It wasn’t to long ago, alternative or natural health was looked upon as being weird, by the masses. To mention the word Earthing then, could have been social suicide. In a short time we’ve come a long way. In the age we live in it’s almost become hip to be healthy; and natural health, backed by science, is leading the way.
When it comes to being healthy, I’m fanatical. I search out the cutting edge findings and experiment on myself. When you do this for a long time, you’re bound to find some things that really help.
With the knowledge available today, when someone really wants to, they can make dramatic transformations in their health and appearance. Sometimes, however, with all of the positive change, we may develop something that benefits us in one way, but has a cost we are unaware of.
Shoes may very well be one of those benefits with a bigger cost than we understood. Don’t worry! You don’t need to throw away your shoes. They definitely help protect our feet from all of the garbage, thorns and thistles; and keep our feet warm in the winter. Although shoes have their benefits, there are some amazing benefits you can receive from being barefoot on the earth.
Not too long ago, a man was watching people walk by as he sat on a bench in the park. He became focused on the fact that, pretty much, everyone was wearing shoes. Clint Ober, who had worked in the cable industry for many years, took special notice of the rubber and plastic soles on the shoes that insulated people from the ground.
Clint was aware of the electrical surface charge of the earth and he started to wonder if being insulated from the ground might have some health consequences. Those thoughts eventually led to research that shows he really stumbled onto something great. Maybe even “The most important health discovery ever?,” as stated on the cover of his book, Earthing.
If your childhood was anything like mine you probably experimented with static electricity. You know what I mean; How you rubbed your sock covered feet on the carpet and touched someone’s skin to give them a little shock; Or maybe you built up a magnetic force in a balloon to stick it on the wall.
It’s surely no surprise that our bodies conduct electricity. What’s really cool, is the particular kind of charge we can receive directly from the earth. All you have to do is get barefoot on the grass or dirt to get a continuous supply of electrons.
These electrons are negatively charged and have a number of beneficial effects on your health. This is no quack science. Clint Ober and a team of researchers have conducted a number of studies, and the feedback they’ve gotten is nothing short of amazing.
At a health conference I got to see, first hand, what all of these free electrons can do to your blood. A number of volunteers at the conference gave blood samples before being grounded, and again after being grounded for about 30 minutes.
Pictures were taken of the samples under a microscope and showed to the audience. In the samples taken before the subjects were grounded, most of the blood cells were clumped together in masses and were oddly shaped. After 30 minutes the blood cells of the volunteers were round and no longer sticking together.
This change the cells took on is referred to as Zeta Potential. This electrical potential gives the cells a charge and causes them to bounce off of each other. Seeing this reality made it apparent, major changes in physiology occur when a person is grounded.
One of the major changes taking place as a result of being grounded is a reduction in inflammation. This is key, because inflammation is one of the major symptoms associated with a host of diseases.
In his book, Earthing, Clint Ober writes, “The reconnection prevents or reduces chronic inflammation and consistently speeds recovery from exhaustion, acute trauma, and minor injuries.”
What I’ve written here is only a small bit of the amazing benefits of being grounded. I am a firm believer in using this technology and think it’s one of the most important investments I’ve made in my and my families health.

My personal favorite is a grounding sheet (earthing sheet). This technology allows me to be grounded all night long so I can reap the benefits in a huge way.
